Crinoids are marine invertebrates that have populated our oceans for 480 million years! Often mistaken for plants, the type of crinoids with stalks are called sea lilies. The fossil used to make these earrings is one segment of a fossil crinoid stalk that was found in Morocco and dates to the Jurassic, between 145 and 201 million years ago!
